This notice is to be read by all (board of directors, coaches, parents, participants, referees, or anyone using the facilities at Ed Austin Regional Park)
The purpose of this letter is to inform you that the Police Athletic League of Jacksonville has purchased an outdoor siren warning system for Ed Austin Regional Park located at 11751 McCormick Road.
The new system will allow the Police Athletic League to immediately notify the residents, participants, guests, and anyone utilizing the park of any emergency that may occur. This system has already been installed and will detect lightning within a 10 mile radius. In the event of lightning detection the system will omit a siren sound for fifteen seconds to notify lightning in the area, followed by a continuous strobe light. The purpose of the strobe light is to notify the residents that there are still dangerous weather conditions in the area. When the area is clear the system will omit three short sirens. Thus, we are sending out this letter to anyone that might be within that range so that when the system is activated you will be aware of what you are hearing. the system will only be tested during business hours on a periodic basis, aproximately 3-4 times a year.
The safety of our participants and the community is one of our primary concerns and this system is just one of the many tools we are utilizing to protect our citizens. We appreciate your understanding in this most important endeavor.
Please contact Program Manager Tiffany Mackey at 854-6555, should you have any additional concerns.
